The director in charge for Persimmon Homes Midlands says demand for new homes in the region remains high as the business announces its full year results for 2016.
Duncan Shaw said 2016 was an excellent year for Persimmon and the business is in a good position to deliver even further growth in 2017.
“We are delighted with customer activity in the first eight weeks of 2017,” said Duncan Shaw.
“Visitor numbers to our developments are up 7% on last year and current forward sales are 9% ahead of 2016.”
To meet demand, the region is building new homes in Leighton Buzzard, Wootton, Bedfordshire and Weldon, Northamptonshire. Looking ahead to the rest of 2017, Persimmon will open further new developments in Towcester and Northampton.
Persimmon today announced its final results for the year ended 31 December 2016. Its full year revenue was up 8% to £3.14bn and legal completions increase by 599 new homes to 15,171.
Many new home buyers continue to take advantage of the Government’s hugely successful Help to Buy Scheme. Duncan Shaw said the scheme was available at all new developments in the area: “Mortgage lenders are fully supportive of this 20% share equity loan scheme and many buyers used Help to Buy in 2016. Prospective buyers can find out about the scheme by visiting any of our developments.”
As part of the company’s growth strategy, the business will shortly open a factory for the manufacture of bricks. The factory, based in Harworth, near Doncaster, is set to be commissioned this quarter and will have the capacity to manufacture up to 80 million bricks each year.
